Pole
vaulting:
- Is currently
Australia's most successful
event. The reason is clear;
pole
vaulting is highly technical and we
currently
have considerable expertise in
this
event in Australia.
- Since its
formation in 2006 East and
West
Pole Vault Club has produced four
State
and Australian Champions.
- Our master
vaulters have held 3 Australian and
3 State
Masters records. Younger vaulters have been
ranked
number one in Australia in 2009
and
2010 whilst being in the top three in the state many more years.

The
profile of a potential international pole vaulter
is:
-
A
better than average sprinter.
-
Average
height or taller helps but not essential.
-
A
willingness to commit to the event from a young
age (many pole vaulters begin vaulting before
the age of 15 years). Having said
this, pole-vaulters usually compete across
a wide range of track and field events
(sprints, jumps and hurdles).
-
Having said that,
the ones that commit are the ones that succeed regardless of the
above. So commitment produces better results than aptitude.
-
Some
gymnastics in their background is helpful, but not essential.
