A former national level 400m hurdler in Russia, Tatiana took up the pole vault after she migrated to Australia in 1997.
Within 12 months of picking up a pole, she had become 1 of the world's best, placing 3rd in the Goodwill Games in '98. In her first major championship, she won a bronze medal at the World Championships in '99.
But it was at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney where she came away with her best performance, a personal best jump and a 'celebrity status'. In the inaugural women's pole vault event, she won silver with 4.55m.
25 September 2006 has seen Tatiana in her true quality, setting world class PB's of 4.57m at Yokohama (the place of her best in 2001) and 4.58m at Daegu, Korea on the 28/09/2006. |
