Tatiana Grigorieva, Sydney 2000’s darling.
Australian’s world class 4.58m pole vaulter (Daegu, Korea 2006).
A former national-level 400m hurdler in Russia, Tatiana took up pole vaulting after she migrated to Australia in 1997.
In her first major championship she won bronze at the 1999 World Championships and rose to national fame when she won silver in front of a home crowd at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
In 2006, Tatiana was second in the Canberra Telstra A-series with 4.41m to Kym Howe’s new Australian record of 4.61m. She went on to win the national title with 4.45m.
At the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games she finished second, then had one of her best ever European tours. She equalled her PB of five years in Brussels with 4.56m and improved it to 4.57m in Yokohama. She finished fourth in the Grand Prix Final in Stuttgart with 4.50m.
